Reading and relaxing at cabin!

A fun time was had by all! We would like to personally thank Uncle Jack and Aunt Hilda for letting the "Manheim Mammas" spend a wonderful weekend at their cabin in Deep Creek. The weather was absolutely gorgeous - a mild 65 during the day and a cool 45 at night! Our journey began on Friday morning about 10:30 a.m. We arrived at the cabin around 3:30 p.m. and immediately unpacked our coolers of food and alcohol. With hardly any room left in the fridge, we started our weekend of EATING! We decided that Friday night would be Mexican night and everyone had to bring a Mexican dish to share. I served my specialty, Chicken Enchiladas (recipe found at the bottom of my blog). Steph prepared a Mexican Lasagna. Tracy whipped up a delicious hot, cheesy dip. Deanna made a layered Mexican dip. Kirsten brought a mouth watering tray of fruits and cheeses and Joelle shared an awesome chocolate chip Mexican cheese cake! While we were enjoying this wonderful meal, a family of 4 deer wandered into the yard to eat the salt lick that my Uncle had placed on a nearby tree. After we ATE all of this great food and quietly watched the deer, we decided to take a walk down the end of the lane. It was then that we met Heinz and his owner, Mike, who is the neighbor. Heinz is a year and a half Yellow Lab. We had fun playing with Heinz! After our walk, we decided to watch a chick flick, "Georgia Rule". Then it was off to bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

We began our day Saturday EATING again. Bagels and muffins were served for breakfast. We showered and left the cabin for a day of shopping and sight seeing. Our first stop was School House Earth and then to Bear Creek Traders. What fun it is to spend money! We then decided to head back to the cabin for some lunch! We ended up eating the leftovers from Friday night's meal. Yummy! We were off again and this time we went to Adventure Sports Center, Inc. at the WISP Resort. They were having the Kayak National Championships. ASCI is definitely a must see for everyone. For more information on ASCI, go to http://adventuresportscenter.com/. After many pictures, we wanted to go to the Honi Honi for Happy Hour. To our disappointment, the Honi Bar was not having any entertainment. So, we got a drink anyway and sat down by the water to relax and chat. At this point, it was close to 5:00 p.m. and we decided it was time to EAT again. After much debate, we decided on Smileys for pizza, burgers and wings. With our tummy's full and our legs tired from shopping and sight seeing, we decided to go back to the cabin for some relaxation, reading and another movie, "Wild Hogs". What a hilarious movie! I had already seen it, but I laughed just as hard seeing it a second time!

Sunday morning came, and Kirsten and Joelle were up and at em'! They left the cabin at approximately 7:45 a.m. to head back to PA. It was Joelle's anniversary and Kirsten had a wedding to attend. This left the 4 of us - Tracy, Steph, Deanna and I. We decided to go to breakfast at Jearbryo's. It is a quaint little place about 2-3 miles from the cabin. After breakfast, we headed back to the cabin to clean up and begin our journey home.

We shared many laughs as girlfriends, we reminisced about our past and we shed a few tears as we shared some personal moments together. This was a weekend of fun, relaxation and just plain girl time. We are so blessed to have each other! Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together. Thanks girls, for sharing the weekend with me!
