Good Friday - March 21, 2008

As you sit here, waking up, drinking your second cup of coffee, remember, today is GOOD FRIDAY. Good Friday is the Friday before Easter when we commemorate Jesus Christ dying on the cross to save our sins. For alot of Christians, this is a day of penance and fasting. Not every Christian follows this tradition, however. But, by abstaining from something significant (like meat, candy, coffee, all foods) it helps us to re-focus and acknowledge the sin in our lives.

Giving up meat (beef and chicken) on Good Friday is an inconvenience to some people. In many poorer countries, beef is a specialty, therefore making it something significant to "give up". Good Friday is not all about giving up the meat though, it's about focusing on prayer in remembrance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Take time out today and everyday to pray.
