Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

This is the audio book I am currently listening to and can't seem to get enough of. The cd's (there are 4 of them) total about 4 hours in length. So far, I am through 2 of them. I listen to them the minute I get into my car, and so do my kids. So far, they have not questioned it. They just listen. Some of you may have already heard about the author, Randy Pausch who was a renowned professor at Carnegie Mellon University. I write "was" because Randy recently passed away July 28th from pancreatic cancer. He knew he only had a few months to live when he gave his "Last Lecture". I am truly enjoying every minute of this book. I have laughed and cried and feel as though I knew Randy and his family. It is a book about achieving your dreams. Randy says, "You cannot change the cards you are dealt, just how you play the hand". Randy has made me think and wonder about my own childhood dreams. Am I achieving them? Well, I can definitely confirm one childhood dream and that was to become a wife and mother. I just have to figure out what the rest of them are... if there are any more. Take a moment to reflect and ask yourself, am I achieving my childhood dreams?? Click below to view Randy on You Tube. It is quite lengthy, so if you have the time....otherwise, read the book if you haven't already - I insist.

I have read his book several times this summer and also laughed out loud and cried tears for a man I got to know so well through his book. It's a must read! One of my favorite quotes from the book is:

"It is better to fail spectacularly than to achieve mediocrity"

I use it in my emal siggy.
