Beating The Winter Doldrums

Can you believe it's the end of January already?? This winter is just flying by - yeah right. Well, for some of us in the Northern States, the winter days and nights tend to drag a little. So why not host a Movie Night with your girlfriends to beat the winter doldrums? That is exactly what I planned last Friday night when I invited 6 of my girlfriends over for "Mamma Mia Mania". Everyone came in their PJ's and brought their favorite cozy blanket to watch the recent movie release of Mamma Mia, starring Myrl Streep and Pierce Bronson. We began the evening with lots of yummy snacks and some chit chat before we cozied up on the sofa and began the movie. During intermission, I served up a variety of mini Haagen Daz and Ben & Jerry's ice creams. Each guest took home a plastic popcorn container filled with movie candy and a mini microwave popcorn as well as a home made Abba Greatest Hits CD to commemorate the evening.

It was the perfect way to beat the winter doldrums. We laughed, we cried a little, and we even sang out loud to the Abba tunes featured in the movie. After the movie, we shared in some more laughs and girl talk.

Do you have an idea for beating the winter doldrums?

What a great idea! And how awesome that your friends don't mind being photographed in their jammies! (I don't know if I'd want to be!!!!). Sounds like a perfect night.

Wow! You have some great ways of beating the winter blues! Me...I just hide indoors with the animals and hope for warmer weather. Ick. I hate cold weather. But it looks like your movie night was lots of fun!!

I really enjoyed our girls movie night! Glad you're such a good planner and hostess. Being your sister I get to reap the benefits of your generosity.
