Is Your Marriage Fireproof?

"Fireproof does not mean that fire will never come, but when it does come, you will be able to withstand it."

We had about 50 friends and church family members attend Family Movie Night at the church Friday evening to watch the PG movie, "Fireproof".

In "Fireproof", Caleb Holt (Kirk Cameron) tells his father that he is about to get a divorce. Caleb's dad asks him to wait 40 days before moving forward. Dad's challenge: work a day-at-a-time through a handwritten book he calls The Love Dare. Central to the movie's plot, The Love Dare is now available to purchase. Written by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, The Love Dare is a hands-on study that both men and women can integrate into their marriages.

This "small budget" movie was both inspirational and entertaining with some intense scenes and a touch of comedy. It is not Oscar winning material, but it drives home a good point, especially for those who are struggling in their marriage. It seems that we all tend to take our spouses for granted from time to time. This movie is a wake up call and makes you re-examine the reasons you married in the first place.

Sounds great! I try to consciously think about how lucky I am every day with Brian. He truly is my soul mate and treats me like a queen.

Oh, I might like this movie -- not because I am having relationship troubles (thank you, God) but because I really like Kirk Cameron and the choices he has made in relationship to God and his life.

I rented this movie last night (along with Traveling Pants 2 - bleah) and am planning to watch it either tonight or tomorrow. I wanted to see it when it was in the theater, but it came and went so quickly... Now I am doubly looking forward to it!
