A Sign Of Aging

Everyone kept warning that this would happen to me after I turned 40 years old young. I did not want to believe them. After all, what they were telling me was the depiction of an elderly person and as of today, as far as I know, I am NOT a grandmother YET. Sure one day, I would like to be a grandmother, just not NOW. Anyhow, sure enough, the day after my 40th birthday, which by the way was over 1 year ago, I awoke to the most "eye opening" realization. I could not believe that eye I would actually need these in order to see the small print in the book I was reading. What everyone was warning me about, came true.

I already wear contact lenses for my near-sightedness, I thought to myself and without them, I am blind as a bat – thanks to my Dad, whose eyesight I obviously inherited. Now, I need to wear glasses over top of my glasses to deal with my far-sightedness? I have been told by my Optometrist that as one ages, so do the eyes. Gradually one loses some elasticity and the eyeball corneas become less acutely focused. Thus, the need for bifocals or magnifying peepers. By the way, did you know that Ben Franklin invented the bifocals?

So, a year and 3 months later, I have "ahem" accepted this "sign of aging"and I purchased my first pair of peepers at The Dollar Tree. And when I put them on……whoa, what a difference it made! Now, I will not have to hold a book at arms length to focus in on the words!

The Dollar Tree has so many cute designs to choose from. I befriended another lady who was also picking out new peepers and she told me that I should purchase several pairs - one for my purse, one pair to keep next to my bed, and for that matter, a pair to keep in every room! After all, they are only $1! Isn't it bad enough that I have to purchase ONE pair, I thought?!??!

My kids love my new peepers and now they want a pair to wear just for fun – go figure. Ella, our house guest loves them too. Maybe she is far-sighted?? I just can’t get used to the fact that eye I will be relying on my peepers more and more every day as I continue to age. I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure that there's no way to stop the aging process!

Seeing Clearly,

Welcome to my world. All I can say is thank goodness for the $1 store, I have lost several pairs. That lady gave you good advice, I have a pair in every room of my house. Yours are so cute, gonna go up to the dollar tree and see if I can find some like yours.

Ella looks adorable in her glasses! I am certain you do, too!

Since the glasses come in such cute styles and brilliant colors, and are so very cheap, you can color coordinate them with your outfits! If you have to wear them, wear them with style!

Btw, I've been wearing glasses since I was 11.
