Spin To Win!

What else can you do on a cold and rainy Saturday night? Well, I'll tell you...play the Game of Life! From time to time, we like to have "Game Night" at our house. Sorry, Clue, Scrabble, Uno, Yahtzee, Pictionary, and even Poker are just a few of my family's favorites. LIFE, also known as The Game of Life, is a board game originally created in 1860 by Milton Bradley, as The Checkered Game of Life. The game simulates a person's travels through his or her life, from high school graduation to retirement, with jobs, marriages and children (or not) along the way. I remember playing this game when I was a young-un'.

After two and a half hours of strategic, competitive playing, (all in fun, of course) I retired at Millionaire Estates with 1.4 million dollars and was dubbed the winner of the evening! I took the college path, ended up as a Computer Programmer and topped my salary out at $80,000. I lived in a modest mobile home with a purchase price of $70,000. The runner up of the night was Casey, then Hugh. Carley was left bankrupt!

There is nothing like the original board games which are STILL around today. Sure, Wii and the various DVD games are nice, but board games never need electricity, and they require much more thought process and creativity. I wonder if board games will be around for generations to come?

Your LIFE time friend,

HI Kel..

What a great blog, you are so right about games and the creativity and thought that we all have to use to play them!!!! Great idea for a rainy night.

I kept board games in my classroom. I was always saddened by how many kids hadn't encountered them previously.

I love board games. Usually Santa leaves one or two board games as a family gift every year. My kids are still young, but we find ones that they can play.
