Fun Monday - What's For Dinner?

Hello all! I am late posting my Fun Monday and I apologize. You can call me "late", but don't call me "late for dinner"! Speaking of dinner, it just so happens that our Fun Monday topic this week is food, glorious, food! Our gracious hostess is Misanthrope and she has asked us:

If we could choose one “main course” item and one dessert item that would, just for you, contain zero calories for the rest of your life (or zero cholesterol, zero points, or whatever your most important dietary measure is)…what would you choose? Post a pic of your chosen items if you like, or just make us drool with a description!

Well, this was an easy one for me, because there is only one food that I could eat just about any day or time of the week and that is PIZZA!! I could eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, appetizer, dessert, etc.... I could even eat it right out of the refrigerator - ice cold!

The origin of pizza began centuries ago, but by the beginning of the 1900's pizza made it's way to the inner cities United States, thanks to Italian immigrants, most notably New York and Chicago, due to those cities having large Italian populations. Small cafes began offering the Italian favorite. American soldiers further prompted the dish to become very popular at the end of World War II, having been exposed to it while serving on the Italian front.

Today, Americans consume pizza by the billions of pies. We eat it delivery, frozen, restaurant-style and occasionally home made. Without a doubt, this spectacular food with humble origins is one of the great inventions of our species.

Thanks for hosting Misanthrope! Please check out the other delicious food choices here. Now, I am going to go have my lunch, which will consist of.....you guessed it - pizza!

By the way, cheese pizza is only 6-8 points per slice according to the Weight Watchers plan! Yay for me!!!

MMMMM!! Yummy! And that drool-inducing pic has to be worth a few points on its own ;-) As I've told others, it was a tough choice for me: pasta vs. pizza. The only thing that gave pasta the edge was that I consider it my #1 comfort food. Pizza runs it a VERY close second though! Wonderful post, thank you so much for playing!

Pizza is a good choice, it does have that yummy factor. We have it at least once a week.

I'm not so fond of pizza and you amazed me! Pizzas are just for snacks here...we always crave for rice! LOL

Pizza seems to be a very popular choice...are you counting it as dessert also since it's a pie?

A few years back when I was teaching in Vegas, I would have chosen pizza as well. Then came the year of the free pizza. Free pizza everyday for the school year for myself and 5 students (of course never the same five, it rotated). The kids never got tired of it, but I learned to hate it inside of 6 months!
