Fun Monday - You've Got Mail

I have not played Fun Monday in quite a while, so there's no better time to hop back on the Fun Monday wagon than with Faye from Summit Musings as our holiday hostess this week! Faye has asked us to share some of our favorite holiday mail that we have received this year.

Is it me, or have any of you experienced a less than normal flow of cards this year? While I'll admit that I was thinking about the "get one, send one" method this year, I still think cards are a nice way to remember those friends and loved ones who you don't get to see that often. One .44 cent stamp and one card is all it takes to make someone's day. It is a sign that another human being actually cares enough about you to invest the time it takes to write a short note, addresss it and pop it in the mail.

Here are some of my favorite Christmas cards that I've received, so far. I especially love the photo cards.  This one is from my dear friend, Karen who lives in Florida. I may not talk to Karen very often. But, she still remembers me and my family every Christmas by sending us a photo card and I look forward to seeing her kids and how they've grown from year to year.

This one below is from my sister:

This family photo comes from my Mom. Do you notice anyone familiar in this photo?:

I really loved this card from my good friends Craig & Joie because of the meaningful message it holds:

This card comes from my "Auntie Alice". She actually took the time to write a nice sentiment and it made me smile:

So you see, receiving Christmas cards or any note throughout the year communicates that you care and that person matters to you. You may be surprised what a difference this simple act of caring may have in the lives of those you love. You still have time to send that card. I encourage everyone to spread the cheer! Thanks for hosting, Faye. You can check out the other FM participants holiday mail here.

I didn't get much either this year, although I did get one from you and I don't think I sent one back *blush*. Please know how swamped I am and it is not a personal snub ;0) Love ya!

You are right...it does mean alot to receive n send greeting cards. But I fear its a dying art! Modern technology is taking over as far as communicating.

I prefer an email or a phone call because you can say much more. I hate going to the post office buy stamps send a card which anyway lands in the garbadge after New Year.
The most important thing to me is that people think of me in whatever way they use to let me know.

I'm with you Kelly re the "send one if I get one" approach to Christmas cards. If I care enough to select, address, stamp and mail a card that's good enough. It's okay if I don't get one in return. While I love blogging and e-mailing friends it's just not the same as a handwritten card that shows so much of their personalities.

I can tell that you've gotten so much pleasure from the cards you received. I wish you and your family--including Cooper--a very joyful Christmas and much health and happiness in 2010.

Guilt. Great. I know I bought a box of cards, but I can't figure out where I put them!

You have received some lovely cards. I still love writing and have a few friends that correspond through good old fashioned letter writing. I get a thrill every time I get a "real" letter in the mail.
