Lord, Hear Our Prayers

Father Jean Jadotte, associate pastor of Miami's Notre Dame D'Haiti parish, sends these prayer intentions for Haiti:

-We are praying for hope despite this situation, that even as we face darkness, people may see a pinpoint of light.

-Praying for families.

-Pray for a greater conscience among everyone not just in Haiti but all over that we must do something [to help].

-Pray for a spirit of thanksgiving for international agencies for their good heart and good faith.

-Pray for relief workers to have a spirit of patience and perseverance.

-For those who at this time are in search of meaning in their lives and peace.

The people of Haiti are weighing heavy on my mind. I have done a little research to see what reputable organizations have set up relief funds to help aid in this devastation.  There are many, inlcuding one fellow blogger. Here are some organizations that I trust.

Catholic Relief Services

Church World Service

United Church of Christ

Check out Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman. She is randomly giving away two (2) $500 donations to the Haitian-related charity of the winners’ choice. In addition, so that everyone can help make a difference, she will donate one dime (10 cents) for every comment entry received in this giveaway to Haitian recovery. Hurry, her contest ends noon on Friday! Click here to enter.

Wonderfully informative! The need to direct people to reputable charities is great. Too many people will be suckered by bogus charities taking advantage of their compassion.

To donate to the Red Cross text the word "Haiti" to the number 90999 and a $10 donation will automatically be made. So far $5 million has been donated from cell phone users.
