Welcome Aboard

Ahoy mateys and welcome aboard C.C. Rider! Sit back, relax and enjoy a relaxing virtual cruise aboard our toon on peaceful Lake Marburg....

Meet Captain FW. He loves to entertain his guests by giving them an informational tour...

The 1,275 acre man-made lake has 26 miles of shoreline. The lake and surrounding park is owned by the Commonwealth of PA. It officially opened for recreation purposes in 1970.

There is always lots of wildlife along the shores. Take a look out port side....Goose Island (officially named Long Island) has many nesting geese and this time of year they are very protective over their eggs as they hiss and chase nearby predators, including people. Did you know that geese mate for life? (Note to Capt: do not drop guests off on Goose Island just because "nature calls").

On starboard side, you will see the dam. The dam is 109 feet high, 1,690 feet wide and 750 feet thick. The dam is owned and operated by  PH Glatfelter, a global supplier of specialty papers.  Glatfelter Paper Company withdrawals 13 million gallons of water per day from Lake Marburg.

There are lots of different species of fish in Lake Marburg, including largemouth bass, catfish, northern pike and bluegill, but mostly we see alot of these:

The party barge holds up to 12 rowdy passengers and one water loving dog!

And no worries, there is a PFD for everyone!

Food...did someone mention food?? Would you like a piece of pie? You will never, ever starve aboard our vessel.

There are plenty of blankets on board too. Cause' it can be 5-10 degrees cooler on the water. So grab a blankie and get cozy!

Or, grab a glass of fine wine and get cozy with your mate! Looks like this cruise ship has been transformed into the "love boat"!

I hope you brought along your camera. The photo opps are endless....just ask Jan....

And the sunsets are breathtaking....

Toot toot!

I hope you enjoyed your virtual ride aboard C.C. Rider!

Oh what a grand time you all will have on your very own 'toon! And how smart to get it while the girls are still young enough to still want to hang with the parents. The Captain looks very calm and collected--and proud of his vessel. :-) Photography breathtaking. My favorite photo, of course, was "water loving dog."
