Gift Card Tree

Seems the older my girls get, the harder it is to buy gifts for them. The early years of the Christmas pile of toys stacked to the ceiling has dwindled down to one or two small, but very expensive gifts under the tree.

One thing I started last year was a Gift Card Tree. This was not my idea exclusively. My galfriend's daughter had recommended to her that she receive a Gift Card Tree for Christmas last year. The idea of a miniature Christmas tree embellished with gift cards to my daughter's favorite stores was brilliant! Afterall, my girls love to shop. This way, they could pick out their very own items and it would be exactly what they wanted.

So this year, in addition to a few Christmas gifts that I purchased for them to unwrap, they will both receive a Gift Card Tree. They so enjoyed the one from last year that they asked for one again! I think the Gift Card Tree will become a Christmas tradition!

That is a super cute idea! I have a feeling in a few years I may be getting a few small trees and using gift cards as ornaments!

Now... THAT is a great idea. I love gift cards, I love trees. What a perfect match.

Good idea. I might add on to this that for every gift card they take a portion, start small, and do a card for their favorite charity. That way there are more cards and they get to enjoy the gift of giving. :)

Very good idea!! I know I use gift cards to fill my son's stocking. We used to put in little toys that he's long outgrown so now I fill it with various gift cards to fast food places he likes, etc.

Perfect idea for two teens who already have everything. I hope they enjoy hanging out with Aunt Tracy cuz next year I'd like to find another event to take them to.
