The Best and Worst Christmas Gifts of 2010

Another Christmas has come and gone and here we are embarking on a new year already. I am finally beginning to feel a little better after two weeks of coughing, sneezing, headaches and nose blowing. My man voice is starting to dissipate and my energy level is almost back to a 10. I am back on track with my exercise program and eating healthy again. Whew. The holidays are rough a challenge.

We spent New Year's Eve at the home of our dear friends, the Martin's. We were not the usual party animals. We departed the gathering at 11 p.m. because FW (my hubby) started feeling under the weather.  Guess he caught my virus. It was pretty much inevitable.

My girlfriend asked me to make a veggie platter for the party. So, it was the perfect opportunity to use my new stainless steel hot/cold serving platter that my Dad and Nancy got me for Christmas. This special "caterer style" platter has a thermo-sensitive core to ensure a hot or cold temperature. The food on the platter will stay hot or cold for up to 2 hours and the presentation looks great, making this one of my favorite Christmas gifts of 2010. Thanks Dad and Nancy! Check out FrontGate to see the complete line of serving platters and other cool items.

Getting around town and exploring new places is no problem now, thanks to "Lori", our new car navigation GPS device better known as Tom Tom.  Doesn't everyone have a pet name for their GPS device?  This Christmas gift made the Best List of 2010. Thanks Mom and Jer!

This next Christmas gift is useful, but should it be classified as a Christmas gift? According to FW, you betcha!  It's the first thing I saw peering out of my stocking on Christmas morning - a spatula! A brand new Teflon coated black flipper! FW says I need a little assistance in making omelets and this tool should help me flip them over with ease. What FW doesn't know is that I pretend to be no good at making omelets so that he will make them for me. I would definitely have to classify this Christmas gift as the worst of 2010. Sorry FW.

It's a good thing that my stocking was stuffed with other goodies, such as lotions, tea, perfume and candy! He really is a thoughtful and generous man - that Santa Claus.

What was your best and/or worst Christmas gift of 2010?

Be sure to visit back here on Wednesday for an exciting announcement.

Okay, the spatula was not a good gift idea. Bad, bad, bad.

Terribly funny, though!

Uh oh--FW didn't watch that dog house video that you posted earlier, Kelly. I haven't gotten a GPS yet but would get one before making another long roadtrip. The older I get the harder it is to be both navigator and driver.

Favorite gifts? A book about the Celts--music, art, literature. More special because the person who gave it to me knew me well enough to know I'd love it.

Glad you're feeling better, Kelly--and ready to take on the new year.

Love that platter! I want one!

And the best way to avoid "worst gifts" is to not exchange gifts. I didn't get a single thing I hated this Christmas. Amoeba and I shared ourselves with each other. We sat down and did a puzzle!

I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope your hubby is well soon, too!

BWAHAHA on the spatula. Here's what I would use it for and it will soon become your favorite gift. You see I have Tin Lizzie, my navigation system on my iPhone. When that wench doesn't go the fastest way that I know or steers me astray I back hand her into the next hemisphere until she perks up and doesn't do it. I use a wooden spoon. But a new spatula will work. Trust me keep it handy for Lori. You'll be thanking FW immensely.

Fave gift? I think my Elizabeth Taylor Passion perfume. Worst gift? Not sure, maybe Scene It Wii game (though in truth, I haven't tried it yet, so that probably isn't completely fair.)

Oooh, oooh, wait, I've got it! My mil gave us a "new" chocolate fondue pot shaped like a Hershey's kiss. I say "new" because although I don't think it was ever removed from the box, it is a commemorative anniversary edition from 2007. Just not me!

I love your platter by the way!
