Last week I stepped outside my box and went against my family and friend's wishes. I had my hair professionally straightened using the Brazilian Keratin treatment. For most of my life, my natural curly hair has always been frizzy and unruly. I recently learned about the Brazilian Keratin treatment from my stylist and wanted to give it a shot. So far, I am loving my hair. It is so smooth and silky and shiny. I don't hate my natural curly hair. I simply wanted a temporary change and I am quite happy with the results.

What is a Brazilian Hair Straightening Treatment?

According to this website, the Brazilian Keratin Hair Straightening is a revolutionary treatment that softens, smooths, and most important gives you straight hair.

It does not use any strong chemicals to open and close the hair cuticle in an effort to straighten it, breaking the bones of the hair shaft. Keratin is a natural substance, which comprises approximately 88% of your hair. It penetrates the hair repairing internal damage and coats the hair preventing further damage.

It is Keratin based which is a type of protein high in sulphur and the amino acid cystine, making it tough, elastic and insoluble. These qualities are fundamental to the strong structural role keratin often plays in nature. It is a major component of horns, hooves and wool. In fact, keratin is the main protective substance in our hair, skin and nails.

This is not a permanent straightening but a natural treatment. Therefore when the product is gone in approximately 4-6 months, your hair will be back to its natural form.

So pretty! I had the same thing done but didn't have the good results you did.

I really like it. My hair is naturally curly too, not as tight of a curl as you have though. My sister (a cosmetologist) and I were in a hotel room one afternoon waiting to head to the race track for my husband's car races when she suggested straightening my hair. So she fired up her straightener and started on my hair. People always say we look so much alike, but with my hair straight we actually agreed that we looked like twins. My mom was at the races too and she just kept looking at me. She couldn't believe how straight my hair was. I kept playing with it because I'd never had such smooth hair before. lol

I like it... Beautiful. Its nice to chance things up every once in awhile, I like your hair both ways. When its curly can you use a flat iron to straighten it, they got some really good ones out.

This looks like a glamour shot. How weird that you want your hair straight and I'm always trying to puff out my hair.

Your hair looks nice! I am now convinced to do some temporary change in hairstyles.

I have a fine natural curl and turns limpy straight at times so i thought getting it curled. I used to have very straight hair but as i get older it turned slightly wavy.

Shoot me now is up!

I love your hair both ways. I have naturally curly hair too. I always longed for straight hair. My hairdresser used the flatiron on mine and I love it. I love to feel my hair - no more frizz. Enjoy the new look. It looks great, but so do the curls that God gave you. That's a pretty awesome thought when you think of it.

I think it looks great! (Nice photo, too.) A coworker of mine recently did the same thing. She loves it. I have stick straight hair...and I'd like curls. LOL.

My wife has very curly hair and straightens it almost every single day. This might be the answer for her. Great photo.
