Cupcakes, Slush Punch, Easter Eggs & Tornadoes!

The weather wreaked havoc in our part of town over the weekend. It was confirmed that a tornado touched down very close to us. Granted, it was only an F-0 with 85 MPH winds, but it sure did alot of damage in our area. Trees uprooted, barns blown into toothpicks, roofs blown off and lots and lots of debris. I would hate to live through an F-1 or above!  It was reported that over 241 tornadoes touched down over a 3-day span across several states from just this one storm!

Thank goodness that mess on Saturday didn't mess up my Sunday plans. Every year on Palm Sunday, I hold my pre-Easter celebration and egg dying event. Over 6 dozen eggs including blown-out eggs were decorated and painted pretty to symbolize spring and the resurrection of Jesus.

 There were cupcakes....

And the most delicious slush punch....

The punch was so delicious and refreshing, I am going to share the recipe with you all right here...right now.

Pineapple-Orange Slush Punch
1-8 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
3 cans of water
1-46 oz. can pineapple juice
2 Cups sugar
3 Cups water

Mix the orange juice concentrate, 3 cans of water and pineapple juice together.
Cook sugar and water for 5 minutes. Let cool.
Add the two mixtures together and freeze in a 5-quart round plastic container.
Thaw slightly before serving (1 hour prior)
Place in punch bowl and add 1 2-liter bottle of gingerale. Garnish with orange slices.

Then there was this bad little egg....he said the party wasn't what it was cracked up to be.

One thing is for sure, I was egg-zosted by the end of the weekend! So what about you, do you have any Easter traditions?

What a wonderful family tradition. :) It sure looks like fun.

We have the usual Easter egg traditions with the grand kids, but this year had our Easter dinner a week early. We have to leave town this week to go to work so won't be here on Easter Sunday.

What a fun tradition to get together to decorate eggs!! That punch looked delicious too as well as the cupcakes!!! Looks like everyone was having a great time!! You know these days we don't have much tradition when it comes to holidays, we kind of go with the flow since kids are out of the house, failing health of hubby's parents, etc. In days gone by, we did dye Easter eggs on the Saturday before Easter, have Easter egg hunts on Sunday morning, etc.

Hoping you all have a great Easter!!

My Holy Week tradition is solitary -- I focus mostly on worship and prayer.

I am also going to focus on stealing this punch recipe. Thanks!

Pfft...i didn't get an invite? See if the Easter Bunny leaves you anything this year LOL How fun. When the kids were small we would have a huge event at the house. All the adults would be partying outside and old Uncle Thom was inside with the kids...pffft. You can see one set of them Here For shame me plugging my flickr account LOL

Your pictures turned out better then mine. It's nice to have traditions. So many families don't make the time and effort for each other. I was egg-tra tired that evening, too!!

That looks like so much fun! The punch sounds great, will have to try that! I also love how cute the cupcakes were!!!

We decorated eggs with my sil and her family (she has a two year old who mostly took the eggs and knocked them around with his golf club!!!) It was so much fun.

We will go to Ohio this year for the annual Easter Egg Hunt at my parents house. the 11 grandkids LOVE it!!!

Great pics...looks like a fun time with family. Our Easter traditions have changed quite a bit, very quiet now. I liked it better when all you kids were younger and we had Easter egg hunts at Mom Mom's!

What a great time. I need to start blowing out eggs. I'm the only one that eats them.

6 dozen eggs? My daughter has an aversion to eggs -- says its because I made her eat an egg salad sandwich at Easter. What else are you gonna do with them? Those cupcakes look divine :) We're going to be out of town this weekend. I do love Peeps candy, tho!

@ Goergia Girls - We usually divide the eggs among the family members who helped dye the eggs. Believe it or not, I only ended up with a little over a dozen myself. My family will gobble them up within a few days!
