Quotography | Trees

This photo was taken on Friday in Gettysburg, PA. The infamous tree overlooks Devil's Den, a large area of granite boulders where one of the battles of Gettysburg took place in July of 1863. Confederate sharp shooters settled into the rocks of Devil's Den and picked off Union men across the valley. It is believed that since many of the fallen soldiers were not left in their final resting places, their souls have never found peace - making Devil's Den one of America's "most haunted".

I love leafless trees... and seeing that bench also added drama to the image!

Trees are some of my all-time favorite subjects. Their majesty in every season never ceases to amaze me. I love this shot of the barren tree with the quote. I also find it interesting that the tree seems to be growing in the rocks...which makes the quote even more perfect.

I love the whole composition of this shot and your editing. The tree seems to tell the tale of the history of mourning, loss and haunting. Excellent capture. I've been reading some Civil War Era books and find this shot of Gettysburg very touching considering all that occured on that sacred ground.

Love this quote and I must agree. Groves are such great places because you can tell that the trees are as one almost.
