Scents of Christmas

I just love the smell of boxwood and fresh pines, don't you? The smell of boxwood takes me back to my childhood when I would spend time at my Mom Mom's house. The boxwood bushes landscaped the front of her home. It is a comforting smell to me and the scent always takes me back to some of those cherished memories spent with family.

Unfortunately, we do not have any boxwood around our home. But, we do have an abundance of pines and  other natural woodsy materials which make lovely holiday arrangements.  I do not have too much confidence in myself when it comes to designing arrangements, but it is something I truly enjoy. I decided to try my hand again this year at making some fresh green arrangements and giving them away as gifts, as well as making one for my home. I love bringing the outdoors inside and filling my home with the scent of fresh evergreens - the smell of Christmas time.

Since I do not have any boxwood around my home, I was able to purchase a bunch at a local farm. I used the boxwood and a variety of pines in the arrangement pictured below. And thanks to my sister for letting me take some cuttings from her live winter berry. This arrangement will sit on my coffee table in my home. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I spent a good hour on the arrangement using lots and lots of greenery! Now I know why these arrangements cost so much in stores.

And now, I will trek off into the forest to gather some more greens. I'm on a roll.....

I agree, Kelly--the smells and sights of different evergreens and other natural materials say "holidays" the very best. And boy, does a pile of greenery bring out the artist in the most creatively challenged in all of us. Your arrangements are just wonderful. Wish I were close enough to be on your list! :-)

Useful information, many thanks to the author. It is puzzling to me now, but in general, the usefulness and importance is overwhelming. Very much thanks again and good luck! Please keep up the good articles, thanks!
