Finding the Beauty

I'm so tired of weather related delays and closures and power outages and shoveling and scraping and wearing extra layers and hibernating and the below freezing temperatures, and it's only February - the middle of our winter! And according to our beloved blasted Punxsutawney Phil, we will most certainly have six more weeks of it!

The only thing this weather is good for in my opinion is great photography. But, let's think about this for a moment, shall we? If we didn't have winter, we probably wouldn't anticipate spring and summer with so much enthusiasm. Allow me to re-phrase my thinking...

Thank goodness for those weather related delays. They keep us safe and off the roads. And if you're one of the lucky ones, your place of employment will give you some well deserved time off.

A power outage forces us to do something other than rely on electricity, like read a book, play a game, or spend some quality time with the kids.

Shoveling the snow gives us some well needed exercise.

Wearing extra layers gives us the chance to wear that favorite wool sweater.

Staying indoors and hibernating is a good thing. Most of us are rarely home anymore.

Those below freezing temperatures make us appreciate a good fire in the fireplace and cuddling with a loved one.

So you see? There is beauty and good in everything, even winter time!

Well said. Sometimes it's hard to remember the beauty in things when our selfishness clouds our view. Wow. So many great pictures. Love the one of the tree and picnic table with orange background.
