With all of today's social media, digital e-cards and the rising cost of postage, it's no wonder no one mails out Christmas cards anymore. I hate to think that it is a dying tradition, but the reality is, no one really wants to take the time to mail a card, nor do they want the added expense.
But, don't you find yourself eagerly wanting to go to the mailbox this time of year in hopes of getting a Christmas card? I just received another Christmas card in the mail (I think that makes a total of 10, but this is no popularity contest). It was from Aunt Norma in Florida. I couldn't wait to rip open the envelope to see who it was from. It made me feel "special", "thought of", "nostalgic" and it was beautiful, with loving sentiments.
Knowing how receiving cards makes me feel, made me want to do the same in return for those I care about. For me, this simple act of caring is not something I will be giving up any time soon. I anticpate receiving many more cards in the mail this week! (At least I am hopeful). By the way, it's not too late to mail your cards, it will definitely brighten someone's day and it will most certainly keep the postal service happy!

Enjoy sending out cards and receiving them--especially if there are cute kids--or even be better, new puppies--on them. My card basket isn't that large this year either--more than your four though, Kelly! :-)
This year I'm sending out New Year's cards--like the idea of connecting with friends early in the year and wishing them well.
I like Fayes idea about new years cards...they could be sent out all through January. I think we have only received 6 cards so far. I do feel a glimmer of excitement going to the mail box too. Pretty soon the Mail delivery will no longer exsist! Pretty sad when you think about it.
