My two girls have been active members in Girl Scouts for 4 years now. They started as Brownie Scouts and now they have officially bridged to Cadettes. As Junior Scouts, they earned their Bronze Award and as Cadettes they will earn their Silver Award next year. They have a wonderful leader, who is also my good friend, Deanna. She has guided them over the years and has enabled them to develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place! (Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of the ceremony, as I videotaped the whole thing and it is far too long to share with you here. I am waiting for my good friend Kirsten to give me copies of her pictures. I know she'll come through one of these days. Thanks "K"!!)
Over the past 9 months, Carley has attended Confirmation classes at our Church. During this time, Carley has learned to consciously embrace the Christian faith and has accepted the responsibilities of Christian discipleship (at least we hope she got something out of it!). Confirmation seeks to give a systematic overview of Christian faith, including the history and heritage, practices, and beliefs of our Church. On Sunday, Carley was officially confirmed (along with 9 others) as a new member of our Church. Several family members attended the service and afterwards we enjoyed lunch at Bentley's At The Barn. Carley received many wonderful gifts to celebrate this stepping stone in her faith journey. We are very proud of her and we wish her much love and support as she continues to grow in her Christian faith.

For all the graduates out there, especially my nephew, Brock who is graduating from High School and my daughter Casey, graduating from Elementary School this year: I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known! Congratulations!
Here are some pictures from Casey's 5th Grade Farewell Party:
