Fun Monday - Staying Cool

I can't believe another week has passed and I have not posted anything since last Monday. Where does the time go? I figured there was no better way to jump back into blogging than with today's Fun Monday challenge! Our "cool" hostess, Janis (aka, Mom) wants us to share...

...what activities we enjoy doing outside and how we stay cool and share some photos of both....

One thing I can say for sure is that so far, we Pennsylvanians are enjoying a wonderful "not so hot" summer! It has been beautiful blue skies and low humidity for much of the summer (**knocking on wood**). We have been living with the windows wide open and no a/c for weeks. I am loving it!

Normally, our summers range in temperatures between 75-95 degree days and can get quite humid. So in order to stay cool, we usually get WET! Unfortunately, we do not have a pool, so we travel to my SIL's house to swim. She does not live very close, so when we need to cool off quickly, we head to the lake which is less than a mile from our home. The lake is in the State Park and technically there is no public swimming allowed in the lake, but you are allowed to wade in the water to your waist. Another one of the park's amenities is a huge swimming pool and for a small fee, we will swim there from time to time. We spend alot of time in the park - hiking, wading, swimming, boating, picnicking, etc. during the summer months.

Today, we visited another State Park. Rocks State Park is located in MD, just about 1 hour from our home. My daughter has been bugging us to go there ever since she visited Rocks last summer with one of her friends. We found it a great place to cool off and be with nature. The park offers tubing down the 3/4 mile Deer Creek and a nearby waterfall in Falling Branch with serene hiking trails. I did not even attempt to enter the icy waters, but my hubby and kids enjoyed the water activities. I was content watching them from the shore and capturing the moment with my camera.

It's not hard to find ways for us to cool off during the hot, hazy days of summer. Now be sure to go on over to Jan's and see how the other participants spend their summer days. Thanks for hosting Mom!

You have some great option for keeping wet in the heat, Church Lady. Luckily, most kids can not resist water as I understand. Good camera work near the falls. How many months are you able to use the swimming pool? Quite a few in your neck of the woods, I'd imagine.

Wow! You have quite some choices for keeping cool there! We don't have a pool either but we do have a lake at the end of the street (we don't swim in it!) we prefer the beach. I am so loving those waterfalls! Gorgeous! My boys much prefer this choice for swimming! They have given me a few years in age with some of their slipping down the closest falls to us (about 40 minutes away and not supposed to be for swimming LOL).

I'll bet that water at Rocks is icy cold - just like the streams in North Carolina, vacation spot of my youth!

Fabulous pics! It looks like a fun - and COOL - time was had by all! This weather has been wonderful! Although I don't mind the usual heat, what we have here is fine by me - 80s and low humidity - yep, I'll take it ;-) Happy FM to you!

Real beautiful places to cool down and have nice activities.
Yes in Belgium in summertime we sometimes have not even 60°C and with the rain, you need a coat, ombrella, cardigans, etc !
Since yesterday it's better ! hopefully it will last ! Apparently in whole northern Europe we are sitting in the same boat !
