Flying Flower

The butterfly is a flying flower,
The flower a tethered butterfly.
~Ponce Denis Écouchard Lebrun

Unfortunately for this butterfly, its' life has come to a peaceful end. Fortunately for me, Nature Girl found it barely broken lying delicately atop the tall grass. She presented it to me knowing I would want to pose it on some flowers in my yard for a photo session.

what a beautiful butterfly!! I'm sorry it is no longer fluttering around, but the pictures of it on the flowers are all absolutely gorgeous!

reminds me that at one point in history -- when people passed on -- they were often photographed in death. It was the thing to do at the tim. And sometimes in life like poses. I often wondered why they weren't photographed in life.

At least the butterfly doesn't look dead. and it's tough to catch one fluttering by when chasing with a camera. aha!
