Mother's Day Tea

I sure hope all you mom's had a wonderful Mother's Day! Mine was certainly fulfilling and entertaining. I would like to start by telling you all about the wonderful "tea" my mom, sister and I shared on Saturday. We went to the Lady Bug Tea Room in East Berlin, PA. The tea room is located in an old Victorian Style home which was built in the 1900's. Miss Millie is the owner and she serves up a high tea with four delightful courses. Our tea experience began by choosing our own tea pot and tea cup from the many different varieties and styles Millie had collected over the years. We were then introduced to the 12 different homemade teas which are made on premise. After choosing our teas, we were served a platter of several hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, which included a homemade pasta stuffed with spinach and cheese, homemade crackers wrapped in bacon, Melba toast topped with roasted mushrooms (which Milly roasted the evening before over an open fire), homemade chicken salad atop plump, juicy cherry tomatoes and fresh olives and cheese. Our second course was a bowl of a very hearty creamy corn and carrot soup along with a crisp salad topped with homemade ravioli, cranberries and dried banana. Our third course (at this point we are busting at the seams), was a cranberry scone with homemade clotted cream and lemon curd. Lastly, 3 different desserts! We had to take these home, as we could not eat another bite. As you can see, I mentioned homemade several times - it is what makes this tea room so very special. Miss Millie prepares and makes everything from scratch, even down to the crackers!! She even pulled fresh carrots from her garden for the soup! Her staff, which is her wonderfully devoted husband and niece make you feel very welcomed and comfortable. Everything was served in a timely fashion and the whole experience took about 1 1/2 hours even after taking a small break to stretch our legs and look at the gift shop items. They even have outdoor dining on the patio. I highly recommend this tea room girls! For more information on this tea room, simply click on the Lady Bug Tea Room.

I am certain that we will be returning!!
