I Can Still Ride A Bike

My kids honestly do not remember ever seeing me ride a bicycle. I guess they were too young to remember riding in the Cozy Cruiser. I could not locate a photo of the girls riding in the Cozy, so I am using this photo as an example.Of course they were only 2 and 4 years old, so that means it has been 8 years since I last rode a bike! I was never a very confident rider, and would never go for very long bike rides because my butt would start to hurt after the first 20 minutes! My dream bicycle would have to be something like this (see below). It sits low to the ground, which suits me since I am on the short side. It has a nice big comfy seat for my big tush and it has high handlebars so I don't have to slouch over! It truly has to be more comfortable than a traditional bike! Maybe if I had owned one of these 15 years ago, I would have enjoyed going on more frequent and longer bicycle rides.I do still own my old bike of 15 years and I have to say I was a little concerned when Hugh suggested we go for a ride on the rail trail. I was certain that my tires would blow out from dry rot, or my chain would fall off from years of no use.

After Hugh safely pumped up my tires and checked the gears for rust, I proudly mounted my 18 speed purple pro class OutRider and took a test ride to the end of the driveway and back. (You're totally picturing this aren't you?) My kids began to smirk and giggle but I assured them that I have not lost the skill of riding of bicycle!

Before we left for our cruise vacation, we decided to take some quality family time and go for a fall bike ride on the Rail Trail, which is only 7 miles from our home. Hugh and the girls have been on the trail before without me, so this time I got to enjoy the ride and the scenery. Take a look at some of the pictures below (click to enlarge any image to see the beauty and detail).
Casey loves this picture of the bridge over the creek along the trail.

Just another spot along the trail to stop and take pictures.

After we went about 1 mile on the trail, we stopped at this quaint cafe', Serenity Station

I was famished and dying of thirst, so we persuaded Hugh to treat us to drinks and dinner since after all, it was the dinner hour and a day before our anniversary!

I made another stop for this photo opp.

This horse is made up completely of old bicycle parts

It was a mild autumn day on the trail.

I took the kids up there a couple of weeks ago. I had been on the Maryland side, but no the PA side. It was lovely and they have been begging to go back since. I am impressed with your pics! Well done ;0)

Good pictures kel, I wanna go there, but I dont own a bike anymore. I remember you were 7 0r 8 and still didn't know how to ride a two wheeler, Aunt Barb was mortified when she came over one day, she taught you right there and then. Thats my Kel!

I was surprised to hear that you were going on the trail for some bike riding. Mom and I questioned each other weather you even had a bike. Love your pics!
