I have not played Fun Monday in a few weeks, so I thought I would jump back in this week since Janis (aka, Mom) is hosting. Here is her assignment:
This week's challenge is all about spring. Here is what I want you to do.....Take a photo of whatever represents Spring to You....and tell us why.
There are many things that represent spring time to me. But since my Egg Dying Party is an event I hold every Palm Sunday with my Dad's and sister's family, I thought I would share a collection of photos from yesterday. Did you kow that Easter eggs have been acknowledged as a symbol of continuing life and fertility, since pre-Christian spring celebrations? According to Wikipedia, the eggs were often given as springtime gifts by the ancient Greeks, Persians and Chinese at their spring festivals. Christians adopted the egg as an Easter symbol because of the relationship between the resurrection of Christ and the renewal of life.
Now, hop on over to Jan's to see a collection of spring photos! You'll be hoppy you did!

I see some artistic work there! I recall coloring eggs with my brothers and sisters ever so many years ago.
I haven't colored eggs in a long time. The last couple of years, I bought pre-dyed eggs because I ran out of time. Having a party is a nice idea!
Great pictures and a great tradition! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing!
I particularly love the way you arranged your pictures.
I'd quite forgotten about painting eggs when I was child.
As they say
'Thanks for the memory'.
This is a nice tradition you have...something your daughters will continue when they grow up. I always had fun dyeing eggs ...sadly I have not done this in a very long time. Looks like everyone had a great time. Thanks for playing FM Kelly!
What a beautiful collage ! I hope you can mat and frame it. What a great gift for your wall ! Your whole place over here reeks of spring...just look at that masthead...quack, quack, quack ! We always dye eggs whether there are kids here or not. AnodeMan hides them and then sends me looking. Except for last year, when after he hid them we had to run a quick errand. But not quick enough that the dogs didn't decide to go Easter egg hunting on their own. I suppose they had no less than 2 dozen. Guess who slept outside that night ?
It was a very nice day as well as a nice dinner. The girls really enjoyed showing their artistic abilities and going on the hunt for the eggs.
Five dozen dyed eggs later...egg salad anyone?
Fun! We dye eggs at my mom's every year. Usually on the day before Easter!
What a great family tradition to bring out the inner artist in both young and old. I like Swampy's idea of framing this photo collage and bringing it out every year for Easter decoration.
That's the first time I have ever heard the explanation for why Easter is linked to eggs and rabbits put just that way. The priests, in trying to separate pagans from their forms of worship, especially those involving idolatry and tangible symbols, incorporated those symbols into the Christian religion as best they could. Thus we have Easter eggs, bunny rabbits, Christmas trees and other interesting things.
Your pictures bring back many fond memories of my childhood and the childhood of my children. This coming Sunday, we are dying eggs with my granddaughter to make more memories.
Thanks for a different look at Spring and Easter.
Great tradition and a beautiful collage.
Dying eggs has been a family tradition since I was a child, too. We will be doing ours this week when Brion & Alicia get home. You create lots of memories for your girls and that is a good thing to be doing.
That looks so fun! What a wonderful tradition to have!
Just now getting around to last week's sites. Jeez. I haven't done eggs in a while, but look forward to doing it with my baby one of these days!
