It is Friday, my kids are still in school and I am going shopping! (Note to husband: I promise not to spend our your whole paycheck.)
Typically I work a four day week and always have my "Freedom Fridays" to run errands, clean, shop, etc. with no nagging kids around. This is my last Freedom Friday cause my girls will be out of school for the summer by June 10th. While I look forward to ending the daily routine of getting up at the crack of dawn and hurredly getting the kids out the door and on the bus, and the constant running to and from school activities, I am dreading the summer doldrums that usually set in, oh I would say about two weeks or so after school is out. That is when the complaining begins..."I'm bored", "She hit me!" "I don't know what to do", "I'm bored", yada, yada, yada.....
During the summer months, I am lucky to be able to cut my work week down to three working days. This way, I have a nice four day weekend to spend with my family.
I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my girls this summer, but rest assured, by the time August rolls around, I will be counting down the days until my Freedom Fridays are back in full swing!

hoping it is a good summer for you all; good for you that you can only work 3 days a week during the summer so you can spend time with family; I know when my kids were young, it always took us a few days to get into the routine of being back around each other during summer vacation.Seems like we would just get into a comfortable routine and then it would be time to go back to school, LOL. But I know what you mean. It is nice just to have some time to be able to do some things for yourself; maybe you can sneak in some time somehow this summer. and they do grow up so quickly; you'll blink and they'll be graduating high school, so as treasure these days, even the bickering and the fighting :)
enjoy your Freedom Friday!
betty
You'll find something wonderful to do to liven up the doldrums, I am certain of it.
I can relate. I work nine and a half hour days so I get every other Friday off. It's a sweet deal. Before my husband retired those were my Freedom Fridays to do what I wanted...alone. When he retired it became a day for us to run errands together. I'm okay with that, but there are days when I long for those hours alone to do only what I want to.
I enjoy spending Freedom Fridays with U. I know come the first day of school we will be planning a full day of shopping. LOL..You are lucky to have such a flexible job.
Ah, Fridays free when everyone else is working. I remember that before retirement. I worked for a company that did expanded days 4 days per week and then we got off at 12:15p on Fridays. It was such a perk--go shopping, keep appts., start the weekend plans early.
Good luck with planning summer diversions for the Girlz. Some of our county schools have all year schedules where students get extended breaks throughout the year instead of all in the summer. Opinions vary. Cooper will be glad to sleep in this summer, I'm sure. :-)
I tried to pack everything in before they got out of school, but somehow I can't shop for three months of groceries! lol.
My rule about summer boredom is this: My kids are allowed to say, "I'm bored" or "I have nothing to do" once each day. If they say it a second time, they have to clean their room or one of the bathrooms. They are still bored as ever, but at least I don't have to hear about it!
