For the past eight years or so, my FIL has always taken the grandkids "Dollar Days" shopping at The Dollar Tree Store where each item is just one dollar! All six grandkids and one great grandchild grabs a basket and begins filling it with Christmas gifts to exchange with each other and mom and dad. It is a tradition that started when the kids were quite young. Now some of the grandkids are adults, but they still enjoy this tradition all the same and have even added 1 year old great granchild to the mix.
The gifts they purchase for each other is done in secrecy. When all the shopping is done, the kids go back to grandad's house and wrap them all. Grammy and Grandad usually serve up some pizza for the hungry bunch. And this year, a special "Dollar Days" cake was made by Grammy.
The gifts are then exchanged on Christmas Eve at the family gathering held at my SIL's house. Sometimes they exchange gag gifts and other times, the gifts are quite tasteful, well, as tasteful as a Dollar Store gift can get.
It is a fun tradition. One that the kids and adults look forward to every year. And one that Grandad holds near and dear to his heart. Thank you Grandad for keeping this tradition going year after year!

smiling at the fun... I've been in a dollar store and have to admit that there are treasures to be found. But it is a tough search!
I love this! How wonderful! And that must be FW's father? They look a lot alike!
