One of the things I have always done on a regular basis is video tape our family holidays, special occasions, birthdays, etc. Over the years I have collected over 21 8mm video tapes. We have since upgraded our 8mm video camcorder with a small Sony digital camcorder. However, we still have the 8 mm tapes and our old video camera is broke. It will not play, or record.
I am looking to find a device that will either record the 8mm tapes onto a DVD, or a 8mm tape player that will simply play the tapes. Problem is, in all my searches, I have had no luck in finding something that will do this. I realize that I can take the tapes to a camera store and they will transfer them for me onto a DVD for a fee, but I wanted to research the cheapest way possible to do this.
Does anyone have any information on this? Your input is greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I don't know how to do that. I have the same project awaiting me here. In fact, last week I spent an entire day looking at all the VHS tapes. My husband likes to tape entire journeys, like the road trip from Wisconsin to Tennessee. B O R I N G !
