To think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted.

It never even occurred to me that I could find all that I needed to make my holiday arrangement in my very own back yard. The woods are full of pines and berries and dried up herbage that was once green and lush in the spring and summer months. A variety of pine branches as well as a collection of pine cones and bitter sweet vine made for a very "primitive country" themed arrangement. I used an old nail box that was just sitting around in our garage to arrange the greens.
And who knew that my old sled that I've had since I was a child would make such a welcoming winter embellishment. It is adorned with a sprig of pine and an old faded red bow (dust and all) that I found in with some outdated Christmas decorations.
Do you have any creative Christmas decorating plans for this year?

You have just put together the very best kind of holiday decorations, Kelly. Back when I was a serious hall decker I loved going around the landscape and nearby woods to harvest greenery, berries, and dried weeds. Love that after the holidays you can remove the bows and leave it au naturele(or something like that :-)for the first few months of the new year. Good job!
Very creative you are to work with what you had so available! I like what you did with the sled, very nice!!
