Field of Flowers

No flower can lift your spirits quite like a sunflower can. Bright and cheery, bold yet comforting, the sunflower is a warm and happy flower. Although this flower is known worldwide for its beauty, it is also an important source of food for humans and animals.  Sunflower oil is a valued and healthy vegetable oil and the seeds are enjoyed as a tasty snack and a nutritious ingredient to many foods. Some farmers produce crops of sunflowers such as the one shown in the photos below.

I pass by a nearby field with acres and acres of glowing yellow flowers everyday on my way to the church office. It has become my daily "pit" stop on my way to work, not only to take advantage of the fabulous photo opps, but to also evoke wonderful feelings of warmth and happiness. Bees are buzzing..., a warm breeze is blowing and I find myself surrounded by one of God's glorious creations.

My church is pictured in the far background. If you look closely, you can see bees on some of the flowers. I took many, many photos and all on different days. Sadly, the sunflowers are beginning to droop as of yesterday.

My wish for you today: May the smile of God light you to glory.

I have seen so many sunflowers this year...fields and fields of them. Many farmers seem to be using them as a "new" crop. I was able to take some sunflower photos at Deep Creek too!

I have never seen fields of sunflowers before. That is too cool! Only what people grow in their backyards, etc. But it makes sense, to get the seeds, oil, etc, they need to grow them somewhere! Out here in northern IL we only have fields of corn and soybeans.

I have never seen a field like that. Around here it's just cotton or soy beans. The pics are beautiful.

Gorgeous flowers, and what a nice pickmeup on this dreary day!

Thank you SO much for your hilarious comment on my last post! Heehee, maybe my neighbor was looking for some crispy roasted (roach) delicacies *gag* *grin*

About Patrick Swayze, no, I didn't see To Wong Foo, but I'm sure he did a great job. My favorite of his movies was Ghost. The scene at the end makes me sob *sniffle*

And thanks also for the good thoughts re. the interview. I guess this means that it wasn't the right thing for me, and that something better is coming along...I hope.
