I had a wonderful dinner this evening with my closest galfriends. After we dropped the kids off at the Roller Rink for a school skating party, we met at the local steak house, Texas Roadhouse. Since I have started my healthy way of eating and living, I have noticed that more and more restaurants are offering healthy menu options besides the typical salad, even though a salad is not always the best choice, especially if it is loaded with croutons, cheese and smothered in salad dressing. I did not find many healthy options at the Roadhouse. In fact the healthiest menu option turned out to be the Grilled Chicken Salad, which is what I ordered this evening. Most restaurants I have dined in recently offer a Nutritional Menu on their website so that you can see how many calories and fat are in each entree. Texas Roadhouse does not list the nutrional facts on their website. Helloooo - red flag! Check out Olive Garden's nutritional menu for example. I like this because I can "plan" my menu before I go out to dine. What you think could be a healthy, low-fat meal can really turn out to be the worst artery clogging entree on the whole menu!
Point I am trying to make is that you can still go out to dinner and make healthy choices. Since I am still trying to lose weight, as I have not reached my goal just yet, I need to focus on these healthy choices and still live my life.
It was so good to spend 2 1/2 hours this evening catching up with my friends and enjoying a dinner I did not have to cook! Love you guys!

Soooo you did get the girls together last nite...glad you had fun. I wonder if you can contact the owners of Texas Rd house and request the nutrional menue..I thought they had to supply that info by law anyway. OMG I am so glad to see Sally is blogging now...I already left her a comment and put her on my blog list. Yay another blogging friend!
I used to love eating at the Texas Roadhouse but the last time I went (Vegas) the music was so loud my friends and I could not talk. I don't know why dining establishments do that. I never return to them and there must be others who feel the way I do.
Appleby's is also very good at supplying nutritional value on their menus and they will even make healthy substitutes for you if you ask. And many of their entrees come in two sizes, one much more inline with portion control. The Appleby's Oriental Chicken Salad traditionally comes with crunchy deep fried chicken breast, but they will broil it upon request. Oh! And dressing on the side, always. I tend to prefer my salads naked or very lightly dressed.
Sounds like a fun night! I am surprised about the menu - so many restaurants offer some good choices nowadays, surprising they didn't really have any.
I am going to have to get back on my diet. I was good until right after Christmas. Sounds like you had a nice time.
Thanks for your sweet birthday wishes!
I love the sweet potato at the Road House. I get it loaded with marshmallows. I know, not healthy, but sooo good!
