Flower Haven

I had the pleasure of attending a photography workshop at Longwood Gardens in Kennet Square, PA with my mom, sister and friend Kirsten last Friday. The workshop was taught by Tracey from Nine Acres Designs. Click on over to see a group photo of all of us and be sure to check out her photo editing services as well as the many photography prints for sale!

We spent the entire day encompassed by thousands of vibrant, exotic, fragrant flowers, some of which I had never seen before in my lifetime. The photo opps were endless and it was a great place to practice for us beginner photographers. Tracey is an excellent teacher and she gave each one of us individualized attention.  Even with my Point and Shoot Camera, I was able to capture a few good photos. Here are some of my favorite images out of 100 taken.

Which one is your favorite? Most of these images were taken in aperature priority. The waterfall picture was taken in shutter priority: ISO-100, 1/30 sec., f/3.6. Not too bad for a beginner, huh?

Photography is something that I have grown to love probably since the start of my blogging days in 2007. So, I am hoping that eventually I will be able to upgrade my camera to a digital SLR sometime in my near future so that I can capture a more precise and crisper image.  Thanks again to Tracey. You rock!

ALL of your pictures look great! I didn't get nearly enough shots. I guess we'll have to make another trip up there.

These are great! My favorite is the tuplips. I like the angle and color in that one. Keep up the good work!

I started out much like you. Blogging made me want to learn photography and learning photography lead to my love buying my DSLR for my birthday a couple of years ago. I love it.

You live within driving distance of Longwood Gardens, Kelly? That's wonderful. When I first became interested in gardening Longwood was one of the first places I visited. My photos are nothing compared to your work. Favorites? The peachy colored rose and the blue-purple delphiniums in the conservatory.
